HEATH, 2 7/8, DIES IN HIS SHELTON HOME
Heath the betta (Japanese Fighting Fish), a Shelton resident, died early Sunday morning, Nov. 14, at home. He was 2 7/8.
He died peacefully of natural causes in his vase on the kitchen table, according to family. Born in 2001, Heath was named after actor Heath Ledger by Kara and Bunny one night while watching "10 Things I Hate About You." He grew up in Westport and moved to Shelton at age 1. He was a beautiful shade of reddish purple. He enjoyed eating and attacking his crushed betta pellets, and watching his family eat meals at the kitchen table.
He is survived by his beloved dog friend, Ruffles.
He was predeceased by his friends, Pasqualli the goldfishes. He was also predeceased by his lady friend, Penelope the goldfish; and his predecessor, Leon the betta.
A wake was held Sunday morning in the kitchen of Heath's home. His family is said to have breakfast with him one last time. Burial was private in Grandma's bathroom Sunday afternoon.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests your thoughts and prayers be with Heath and another beloved person who departed last weekend — Ol' Dirty Bastard.

This morning as I drove to work it was really, really windy. The leaves were coming down like snow. This makes me incredibly sad because I hate this awful almost-end-of-fall time of year. The trees become bare, it gets dark at 4:45 p.m., we already had our first overnight frost, the snow tires go on next week and damn, it's getting cold. (Nevermind the fact that our country is doomed for the next four years. That's beside the point, right?)
I miss the summer, yet I'm ready for the winter to just start already so it can be done and over. Or at least fast-forward to Thanksgiving.
November just drags.
It's only the 5th?!
Today I realized it's that awful time of year for another reason: Scorpio. Look back to last year's and the year before's posts around this time. I'm in my crankerina crappy fall mood, where the world is against me and I'm too spent to fight.
I refuse to let past failures get me down. This fall will be different. And right now I vow to seek the good things about the impending cold weather. Let's make a list, shall we? Feel free to add on.
• I get to try out my new all-wheel drive in the snow. Bring on the donuts!
• My birthday is coming up, which hopefully means a trip to Miami is in the future.
• College basketball.
• Faux fur winter coats are fabulous.
• Fireplaces are good, too.
• So are down comforters.
• Who doesn't like Santa?
• And pumpkin pie?
And remember, Nov. 22, when the sun reaches Sagittarius, is just a mere 17 days away. That's when the world returns to better-than-normal circumstances.

Blogger has been so slow lately, this is the first time I've been able to log on since Tuesday. I guess everyone is blogging about how they want to move to Canada. Personally, I'm thinking somewhere in the Caribbean would be better. I'm not so into cold weather sports, and I've always wanted to open a beach bar. Who's with me?
